The University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) has started to celebrate its fifth anniversary by appealing to business in Ghana to help fund the construction of its very first cutting-edge in-patient Clinical Trials Unit (CTU) and clinical trials laboratories.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of UGMC, Dr. Darius Osei, stated that this was a significant project that, if completed successfully, will enable trials to be conducted in Ghana securely and in accordance with international standards.
A contemporary CTU would benefit Ghana’s growth in many ways by ensuring that the drugs Ghanaians take for chronic conditions like high blood pressure, diabetes, and cancer are appropriate for the general populace.
Without a question, he added, UGMC had effectively established itself as a leader in Ghana and worldwide for healthcare quality.
