Despite residents’ unwillingness to change their attitudes, Zoomlion Ghana’s Upper East Regional branch claims to have transformed the region’s waste management system.

It stated that waste management is a collaborative effort, but that residents had failed to uphold their end of the bargain. “We are able to keep the region clean, and I must say that our presence in the region has effectively eliminated the region’s poor waste management system,” said Upper East Regional Manager John Sackey.

Mr. Sackey, the Regional Manager, noted that despite citizens’ apathy about implementing good waste management systems in their homes and workplaces, his organization has not abandoned its mission.

“People still have the notion that littering the environment for workers of Zoomlion to come and clear is the order of the day. But that is wrong we don’t have to think that way, collectiveness we have to be and be able to keep clean our environment. If we can keep our surroundings clean, we can be devoid of diseases and its related effects.”

He stressed that their efforts over the years have made the region achieve some heights in terms of waste management stressing that his outfit will do more until the region becomes waste-free.

Mr Sackey said the integrated recycling and compost plant at the Sherigu community which is expected to begin working in 2022 will help rid the region of filth
