Zoomlion Ghana’s Upper East Regional branch has announced that the much-anticipated Integrated Recycling and Compost Plant at the Sherigu village will be completed in 2022.
It may be noted that President Akufo-Addo cut the sod for the start of the Integrated Recycling and Compost Plant at Sherigu in October 2020, with a six-month deadline for completion, but this has not happened.
Mr. John Sackey, Zoomlion Ghana’s Upper East Regional Manager, blamed the delays on minor difficulties at the village level. He stated that the concerns had been resolved, and that construction could now commence.

“The contractor is on the jobsite and working on the construction.” I anticipate that we will be able to use the site within the next year. Other places have started testing their plants, and we will shortly follow suit,” he continued.
With much assurance that effective work will begin next year in terms of waste processing, the manager explained further that apart from the recycling plant which would prepare organic compost, there would be a landfill site for waste that can neither be composted nor recycled to appropriately be disposed of.
Mr Sackey made the known at Holy Ghost Temple of the Assemble of God Church in Bolgatanga, as part of the company’s annual ‘Thanks Given Service’ initiative.
The initiative, the manager said usually offer them (workers of the company) the opportunity to give praise to the Maker (God) for His protection over the year.
Mr Sackey, therefore, used the opportunity to encourage residents to see waste management as a collective effort and a way of preventing diseases at their various homes and business surroundings.
