To safeguard and sustainably manage the nation’s beaches and coasts, Professor Ishmael Mensah of Tourism and Hospitality Management has recommended for the creation of a Beach Authority.
In order to increase Ghana’s competitiveness in the coastal tourism sector, he claimed that the Authority will monitor sanitation, beach quality, and prevent haphazard structural development, sand winning, and other harmful activities along the shore.
In his professorial inaugural lecture on Wednesday, Prof. Mensah of the Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management at the University of Cape Coast (UCC) addressed the question: “Evolution of Coastal Tourism in Ghana, Paradise Found, Paradise Lost, or Paradise Regained?”

A specific piece of legislation that would be harsh enough to dissuade individuals from damaging the environment was another thing he pushed for.
