Modernghana News can authoritatively report that the Laribanga astro-turf is not completed as captured in the order paper of Parliament today, Tuesday, November, 23, 2021.
This comes after the Member of Parliament for Tamale North, Hon. Alhaji Alhassan Suhuyini, asked the Minister of Youth and Sports on the floor of Parliament to provide Parliament and the people of Ghana with the number of astro turf pitches built so far, their locations, and their relative costs.
The Minister for Youth and Sports, Hon. Yussif Mustapha in a written answer to the question said the Zongo Development Fund undertook and completed some astro-turf pitches across the country of which the Laribanga astro-turf is inclusive.

As part of the answer, he indicated that the amount spent on the supposed completed project is a Gh¢1.8 million as captured in the order paper of Tuesday, 23rd November, 2021 as marked.
Laribanga was also included in the Minister’s answer to Parliament as a town in the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District rather than West Gonja Municipal.
However, a visit to the project site by a ModernGhana reporter revealed that little work had been done aside from the installation of fence and the abandonment of various goods, including carpets, due to the rains.
This has caused a stir in Laribanga township, with residents questioning the Minister’s claim that the project is finished.
