The suspected earth tremor at Twifo-Mampong was actually a landslip, according to a detailed study by a team of seismologists and geoscientists from the Ghana Geological Survey Authority (GGSA), the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), and the Twifo Attimokwa District Assembly.
According to GGSA, the soil on a high hill with some cocoa crops moved following a rainstorm the day before, on June 28, Thursday.
As a result, it gave the farmers in the affected areas the assurance to carry out their farming operations but to avoid those areas when there are signs of rainfall.

Residents in the region confirmed during an investigation on Tuesday, July 11, according to a statement from Mr. Isaac Kuuwan Mwinbelle, acting director-general, that they did not experience the symptoms.
