The Governance for Inclusive Development (GovID) Programme of the German Development Corporation (GIZ) has helped to raise the number of taxpayers registered with the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) from one million in 2016 to three million in 2020.
The considerable increase in taxpayer registrations, according to Mr. Raphael Frerking, Programmes Manager of GovID – GIZ, who made the statement, helped to boost national tax income, which increased from GhC38 billion in 2018 to GhC44 billion in 2020.
The Excise Tax Stamp Policy and the Transfer Pricing Policy, he said, had been developed, effectively reducing tax evasion in the private sector. He also said the programme had supported national revenue mobilisation and facilitated closer collaboration with the Ministry of Finance and the GRA.
