John Hygene Ahiadji, a 40-year-old commercial motor rider and former instructor, was given a seven-year prison term by the Hohoe Circuit Court for defiling an 11-year-old class six student.

After a thorough trial, the court declared Ahiadji guilty of the allegation of defilement notwithstanding his plea of not guilty when he first appeared before the court on May 15, 2023.

The complainant was the victim’s mother, and the two shared a residence, Chief Inspector Charles Aziati, the prosecutor, revealed to the court presided over by Mr. Michael Johnson Abbey.

He claimed the offender had previously worked as a teacher at the institution where the victim now studies.
