If the current systems are not improved to satisfy the enormous demand of the population, the capital of the Volta Regional, Ho, may have a water crisis in the next two to five years.

In an exclusive interview in Ho with the Ghana News Agency, Mr. Francis Lamptey, Regional Chief Manager, Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL), stated that if systems were not expanded and additional boreholes were not drilled, the situation could worsen from the current twice weekly water management or ration to one.

He ascribed the predicament to a mismatch between supply and demand in the Municipal area as well as to population growth.

He explained that a huge number of students studying at tertiary institutions in the enclave had brought up the Ho Teaching, which had caused the population of Ho to grow enormously.
