In order to prevent additional attacks on the institution by irate young people in the neighbourhood, there was a significant security presence at the Asawase Police station on Monday morning.
Following the death of one of their comrades who was allegedly at the hands of the police last Sunday evening, the youngsters attacked and destroyed numerous items at the police station.
Salawudeen Shilla, 34, who died on Sunday, was said to have been beaten by police after being apprehended during a police operation in the Goroo neighbourhood of Asawase.
After learning of the murder of their colleague, the group of irate adolescents, numbering approximately twenty, rushed the police station and began damaging properties worth thousands of cedis.
A power metre for ECGs was destroyed.
