Caleb Ekuban, a Ghana striker, scored his first goal for Genoa on Tuesday, four months after joining the Italian club.
In the Copa Italia, Ekuban scored the only goal as Genoa defeated US Salernitana 1-0 to advance to the next round of the competition.
- Chelsea football club sacks head coach Frank Lampard.
- The soccer game was so foggy that no one could see anything.
Prior to Tuesday’s meeting, the striker had gone 14 games without scoring in all competitions, but he looked sharp.
Ekuban had missed the target with an effort from within the box early in the second half, but he made amends in the 76th minute with a header.
He took the ball on the left flank, sped through a few of tackles, and then gave the ball to Yayah Kallon, who found the striker with a left-wing cross.
In the round of 16, Genoa will meet AC Milan, which is set to take place in January.
Ekuban signed a three-year contract with Genoa in August as he literally forced Turkish club Trabzonspor to sell him.
