The North East Region of the Ghana Health Service (GHS) has recognised 106 frontline and associated health professionals who helped to slow the development and consequences of COVID-19 in the area.
The Service divided the Region into two zones and hired 45 healthcare workers from Walewale, Janga, Kpasenkpe, and Mamprugu-Moagduri hospitals in the West Mamprusi zone.
61 health professionals received awards for the East Mamprusi zone, which included the towns of Nalerigu, Gambaga, Bunkpurugu-Nakpanduri, Chereponi, and Yunyoo-Nasuan.

Citations and certificates of honour were given to all 106 prize recipients.
Dr. Abdulai Abukari, the Regional Director of the GHS, said during brief separate ceremonies to commemorate the professionals that the awards were a continuation of an award event conducted by President Akufo-Addo on March 14, 2023 in Accra to celebrate some of the professionals.
