Freddie Wosemawu Blay, the National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has said that during his tenure as National Chairman, he gave the party his all.

Before the party’s delegate conference, Mr. Blay told Citi News that he will step down from the NPP leadership with dignity.

“I value the interactions individuals have had with me. Some people have helped me, while others, unavoidably, have criticized me in an effort to make me look better—and occasionally a little bad—he said.

I would be honored to be referred to as the former chairman, he continued. History will be a better judge of our accomplishments.

Serving as National Chairman from 2015 to 2022, Mr. Blay helped the NPP win the 2016 and 2020 elections.

He will not be seeking re-election at the delegates’ conference slated for 15th to 17th of July at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Among the notable contenders seeking to replace Mr. Blay as the national chairman are Prof. Christopher Ameyaw Akumfi, Stephen Asamoah Boateng, and Akwasi Osei Adjei.
