Ibrahim Jamal Deen, the Director of Agriculture in the Tempane District of the Upper East Region, has urged farmers to switch from traditional to contemporary agricultural practices in order to increase harvests.

Because of the current ever-changing weather patterns, he noted, recognized indigenous farming practices must be reexamined.

Mr. Jamal Deen went on to say that, given the region’s location and weather characteristics, producers should embrace climate-smart agriculture techniques. He mentioned this on A1 Radio’s Agric Forum Show.

Mr. Jamal-Deen commented on this year’s farming season, noting that despite the problems faced by farmers, his region was able to produce a respectable crop.
